1. Overview
DiplomaPath stores all course records, grades, GPA data, and transcripts in your browser's localStorage. We never transmit, access, or store your academic records on our servers, not even for backup.
DiplomaPath Homeschool ("DiplomaPath," "we," "us," or "our") operates the web application at app.diplomapathhomeschool.com and the marketing site at diplomapathhomeschool.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
DiplomaPath is designed specifically to help Minnesota homeschool families maintain compliant academic records under Minn. Stat. § 120A.22. Protecting the privacy of your student's records is fundamental to our mission.
2. What We Collect
We collect only the minimum information needed to operate the service:
- License key, when you purchase a plan, a license key is generated by our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) and validated by our app to unlock paid features. We store the key in your browser; our server only confirms whether a key is valid.
- Email address, if you contact us for support, we receive your email address to reply. We do not add you to any marketing list without your explicit consent.
- Basic analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure aggregate page views and feature usage. GA4 data is anonymized and does not include student names, course grades, or any other personally identifiable academic information.
3. What We Don't Collect
To be absolutely clear about what stays private:
- Student names, course names, or grades
- GPA data or graduation credit counts
- Transcript content of any kind
- Activity logs, test scores, or diploma information entered into the app
- Credit card numbers or bank information
- Social Security numbers or government-issued IDs
- Location data beyond the state you self-identify during setup
4. How Your Data Is Stored
All academic records you enter into DiplomaPath, courses, grades, GPA calculations, activities, test scores, and transcript data, are saved exclusively to your browser's localStorage. This means:
- Data is stored on your device, in your browser, under your control.
- Clearing your browser's site data or localStorage will permanently delete your records from DiplomaPath. We recommend exporting a PDF transcript periodically as a backup.
- Data does not sync between devices or browsers automatically, each browser instance maintains its own copy.
- You can delete all your data at any time by clearing localStorage for diplomapathhomeschool.com in your browser settings.
5. Payments
Payment processing is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy, who serves as the merchant of record for all DiplomaPath transactions. When you purchase a plan:
- Your credit card details are entered directly on Lemon Squeezy's secure checkout page, not on any DiplomaPath page.
- DiplomaPath never receives, sees, or stores your payment card information.
- Lemon Squeezy's own Privacy Policy governs how they handle your billing data.
6. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use our marketing site and app in aggregate. GA4 is configured with:
- IP anonymization enabled, your full IP address is never stored by Google Analytics on our behalf.
- No remarketing or advertising features enabled.
- No cross-site tracking or linking to advertising identifiers.
- Data retention set to the minimum available period (2 months for user-level data).
You can opt out of GA4 tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by using a privacy-focused browser extension.
7. Cookies
DiplomaPath does not use first-party cookies for advertising, retargeting, or behavioral profiling. The cookies present on our site come from:
- Google Analytics 4, session and interaction measurement (analytics only, not advertising).
- Lemon Squeezy checkout, only present when you visit a checkout page, for fraud prevention and session management.
We do not use or permit any third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or social media retargeting on DiplomaPath properties.
8. Children's Privacy
DiplomaPath is intended for use by parents and guardians managing their homeschool student's records. The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided personal information to DiplomaPath directly, please contact us at support@diplomapathhomeschool.com and we will delete it promptly.
Student academic records entered into the app by a parent are stored locally on the parent's device and are never transmitted to DiplomaPath, consistent with the requirements of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
9. Your Rights
Because DiplomaPath does not store your student's academic data on our servers, most traditional data subject requests (access, deletion, portability) are satisfied by your own browser controls. For any personal information we do hold (such as a support email), you may:
- Request access, ask us what personal data we have on file for you.
- Request deletion, ask us to delete any personal data associated with your email address.
- Opt out of analytics, use the Google Analytics opt-out tool linked above.
- Contact support, email us at support@diplomapathhomeschool.com with any privacy concern.
We will respond to verifiable requests within 30 days. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third parties for their marketing purposes, ever.
10. State-Specific Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under your state’s law. Because DiplomaPath stores all student academic data locally on your device and does not sell personal information, most of these rights are automatically satisfied by design. We describe them here for full transparency.
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) give you the following rights:
- Right to Know. You may request what personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes for collection, and whether it has been shared with third parties.
- Right to Delete. You may request deletion of personal information we hold about you (e.g., your email address used for support or license management).
- Right to Opt Out of Sale : DiplomaPath does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their commercial purposes. There is nothing to opt out of.
- Right to Correct. You may request correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
What we collect about California users (and all users): Email address (for license management and support only), no name, no address, no payment card data (handled by Lemon Squeezy), no student academic data (stored on your device only).
To exercise your California rights, email support@diplomapathhomeschool.com with “California Privacy Request” in the subject line. We will respond within 45 days.
Virginia, Colorado, Texas, Oregon, New Jersey, and Other State Residents
Residents of Virginia (CDPA), Colorado (CPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon (OCPA), New Jersey, Connecticut, and other states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws have similar rights to access, delete, correct, and opt out of sale of personal information. Because DiplomaPath does not sell personal data and collects only your email address, these rights function the same way as the California rights described above.
To submit a request under your state’s privacy law, email support@diplomapathhomeschool.com and identify your state. We will respond within 45 days.
Student Data Privacy (All States)
DiplomaPath is used by parents, not by schools or educational institutions. The parent or guardian who creates an account is the sole data controller for all student academic records entered into the application. DiplomaPath does not access, process, sell, or share student academic records. This design aligns with state student data privacy laws including California SOPIPA, New York Education Law 2-d, Texas TSSPA, and similar statutes, even though those laws are primarily directed at educational institutions rather than parent-purchased software.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify active license holders by email. Continued use of DiplomaPath after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
